Q: Why should I join Familio?

Indeed, why would you need a private, simple place to share your precious family moments with your family?

After all, there are so many other options. You can do that on Facebook (hey, follow us on Facebook!), on Instagram ( Just follow @familio on instagram ), on Picasa, on Flickr (guess what. We’re there as well!) - so many options.

So, are you already sharing with your family the way you’d like to?

Does your mom smile every morning at the fresh pictures of her grandchildren playing and laughing? Our moms do.

Does your cousin even know that your 2nd child was born only 3 weeks ago, and that she takes after your side of the family? Our cousins, no matter how remote they live, are closer to us than they ever been.

Familio understands families. That is why Familio is so simple to use, simple enough to be used by your grandma.

Indeed, Familio understands families. This is why Familio is private, we understand your privacy concerns without you having to set them up.

Q: Who can see the moments I share on Familo?

Your family, and only your family.

When you sign up for Familio, we ask you to invite your family. Once you invite a family member, they will be able to see the moments you share. They will also be able to express their love for the moment, to leave a note on it and to engage in a conversation with you around your shared moments.

Who can share with me on Familio?

Your family, and only your family.

In fact, we don’t think you should invite your entire family. Invite the family members you feel close to, regardless of your blood relation to them.

You should invite the family members that you feel comfortable sharing your family moments with. You should not invite the ones that make you feel uncomfortable sharing.

Q: How can I upload pictures or videos to Familio?

Using our Familio iPhone app.

Using our Familio Android app, which isn’t available yet - email us at want-android-app@famil.io to get early access to a test version of our Android app

Through Familio.com, click the “Add Moment” button on the top right.

Email the photo or video to share@familio.com

Q: Which video formats are supported by Familio?

We support pretty much any video (or image) format (*) that’s out there, and we also take care of making it viewable on each of the platforms we support. So don’t worry about it.

(*) If we do run into a format we don’t support, we’ll notify you by email about it, and then we’ll work day and night to add support for it.

Is there a limit to the number of moments I can share on Familio?

No. (*)

* Familio is currently in “beta” - which means we’re still learning the usage patterns and the costs involved in keeping this high bar. We may need to put some restrictions on these “no limits, max quality” approach at some point. If we do end up restricting this at some point (hopefully not!), we do promise that we will never limit or charge existing users for existing shared moments (pictures, videos etc) that were upload prior to the potential change in policy. This is a small token of appreciation that we’re happy to provide you in return for putting up with Familio not being perfect (yet).

Q: How can I share ________ on Familio?

There are so many things we feel we want to share on Familio. The art our children create in kindergarden, the insightful and funny sentences they utter and we vow to remember but quickly forget, our voice reading to them their favorite bed time story, and much more.

Q: What happens when I share a moment on Familio?

We’ll let your family know about it via email.

If your family members have our app installed, we’ll also let them know via real time app notifications.

If you send a bunch of photos at once, we’ll wait until you’re done and then notify your family about the entire set in one message or notification.
